XD88 power switch and logo

Supposedly the power switch is software-interlocked, and it the power switch is hit with the machine on, it'll shut itself down. Doesn't seem to work on this one though - grrr!

60MB QIC-24 SCSI tape drive
60MB QIC SCSI tape drive. I've never actually tried it, although it rattles and whirrs happily enough at power-on, and the capstan hasn't turned to mush (as they're prone to on tape drives of this vintage). It'd be nice if I could find some OS install media for it one day (yeah, right!)
I've since tried this drive, having needed to restore some unrelated 60MB tapes. It works fine!

Best keyboard ever!
Far as I know this keyboard is unique to the XD88 (i.e. it wasn't used on any of the earlier Unix machines that Tek made). Has to be the nicest keyboard that I've ever typed with, though. Note the funky cursor control pad, and mystery 'Tek' key beside the spacebar. Three-button quadrature mouse plugs direct into the keyboard on the right hand side.

Ports at the back: Mysterious hardcopy interface, external SCSI connector (with terminator fitted), two serial ports, RGB connectors, keyboard socket, Ethernet, config switches, and diagnostic / status LED display.
Note the way that Tek - in keeping with their heritage - call the machine an 'instrument'!
